So today is the day that I chose to start a blog about something I feel should be out there. Writing a blog is something I never fathomed doing so please pardon my writing skills 🙂 . A bit about me, I’m a graduate student with an engineering background about to start my studies this Fall in data analytics and information systems. I’ve worked in the forensics and financial crime paradigm as a fresher and also as a business analyst for a startup for about 3 years in total.
As I start with this journey, here are a few answers in my head to the basic questions every human asks before taking up a new initiative:-
Why?
This blog would help me and my prospective readers by
- keeping me motivated through my studies and helping me establish a focused approach towards what I want to do in life.
- helping me put myself out there in a world full of extremely well established and successful professionals in financial crime and big data with the possibility of connecting and learning from them.
- attempting at creating a mutually beneficial bridge between (big data, analytics, information systems) and financial crime in terms of applicability of one field in the other and vice versa.
How and what?
In what I hope to be a series of subsequent posts, I plan to discover, understand and share the value of data driven insights in the field of financial crime. My posts would range from
- providing data driven and engineering solutions by attempting to use industry grade tools/ programming languages for tasks of a forensic investigator/ risk manager.
- exploring current trends and innovations in the financial crime and regulatory landscape with a focus on statistical insights.
- viewing forensic auditing and investigations through an engineer’s eyes to understand the value addition of a non conventional educational background for the profile.
When?
Simple answer. Starting now :). I hope to be as frequent as possible and commit to write bi-weekly for now.
I hope to be a part of the writing community for financial crime and learn and grow during my studies and blogging experience. Signing off for now. See you guys very soon. Happy reading 🙂
